Two new trade reports from Deadline say that Marvel are circling Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier for the X-Men Reboot, plus Spider-Man: Brand New Day casting news. Let’s tackle X-Men first and hear is what Deadline reports.
‘Following the successful launch of Thunderbolts*, director Jake Schreier might already have his sights set on the next big Marvel Studios project, as sources tell Deadline he is in early talks to direct the studio’s new X-Men movie.’
‘It is unknown where things stand in the dealmaking process, but insiders say that, following a meeting this past week, Schreier looks to be the top choice to take on one of the studio’s most anticipated projects. Michael Lesslie penned the script with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige producing.’
I’ll say this, I just watched Thunderbolts* this week. It’s a damn good movie and one of the better Marvel films in recent years. So I can see Marvel’s thinking.

In our second story from Deadline, they say The Bear actress Liza Colón-Zayas has been cast for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
‘Liza Colón-Zayas, a fan favorite on FX’s The Bear, has closed a deal to join Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the fourth installment in the spidey saga from Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios, Deadline has learned.’
‘Reps for Sony and Marvel declined comment. Details as to Colón-Zayas’ role remain stuck in the spider’s web.’
This means we now have four cast members confirmed for Brand New Day. Holland (duh), Zendaya, Sadie Sink and now Colón-Zayas. I can only assume this is another major role. I mean movies tend to cast the bigger roles first and then filter down from there. Not always, but the majority of the time. There were rumors the villain of the movie could be a female. So I guess we shall see?
What do you think of Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier for the X-Men Reboot? What about the Spider-Man: Brand New Day casting news? Thoughts below.
