21 New Songs Out Today
Listen to new songs by My Morning Jacket, Pigsx7 + El-P, Chapterhouse, Wishy, Ezra Furman, Caroline, Snapped Ankles, Pelican, Yukimi (Little Dragon), Esther Rose, and more.

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
PELICAN – “INDELIBLE”
Chicago heavy post-rock vets Pelican have shared the sludgy, towering, seven-minute “Indelible,” which is the second taste of their first album in six years and first for Run For Cover, Flickering Resonance.

PIGS PIGS PIGS PIGS PIGS PIGS PIGS – “GLIB TONGUED” (ft. EL-P)
UK stoner rockers Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs and alternative rap pioneer El-P is not a collaboration I saw coming, but here we are. The genre-blurring song will appear on Pigsx7’s new album Death Hilarious, due out on April 4, and the band also just announced a North American tour, beginning at NYC’s Le Poisson Rouge on June 18.

WISHY – “OVER AND OVER”
Wishy’s new EP Planet Popstar is out next month, and they’ve given us another early taste with “Over and Over.” “The major themes of this song revolve around desire, ambition, disappointment, acceptance, playing the cards you’re dealt, etc,” Kevin Krauter says. “I wrote this song in 2020 before the band existed, and since then had no plans to properly record and release it. I knew Ben would crush it on the mix and production, however, and Nina’s voice would send it over the edge. It simply had to be a Wishy song.”

ESTHER ROSE – “HAD TO”
Alt-country singer Esther Rose has shared another propulsive taste of Want. “In this song, I examine my relationship with alcohol,” she says. “I also examine my relationship with touring.”
—
CHAPTERHOUSE – “SEE THAT GIRL”
UK shoegaze OGs Chapterhouse are reissue previously unreleased early demos, their first-ever recordings, as The White House Demos on May 9 via Sonic Cathedral. “They were the first songs we wrote as a band,” says singer and guitarist Stephen Patman. “At the time our live set consisted of Stooges and ’60s garage-psych cover versions which we mixed with these original songs.” Check out “See That Girl”:

BEIRUT – “TUANAKI ATOLL”
Beirut’s new album, A Study of Losses, is out next month, and he’s given us another preview wit “Tuanaki Atoll.” “The Tuanaki Atoll is said to have been an Eden-like island somewhere in the South Pacific that mysteriously disappeared under the sea during an earthquake in the 1840s,” Zach Condon says. “Its inhabitants were described as a people so peaceful and generous that they had no word in their language for such things as war or murder. It might be almost too obvious of a choice but nothing could fit the island vibes better than a sweet and breezy ukulele which became the foundation that I built this song around. Contrastingly yet somewhat fittingly, the lyrics took on a darker edge and ended up reflecting that side of the story. Maybe because personally I doubt that such an Eden-like place could ever exist on Earth.”

EZRA FURMAN – “JUMP OUT”
“Do you ever feel like the car is going too fast and you need pull over and get out,” Ezra Furman asks. “But the driver won’t stop. You ask again, you ask louder. You plead. They won’t even turn the music down. America 2025. I’m thinking about whether I might have to jump out of a speeding vehicle. That is how it feels. Hey driver where are you taking us. Am I overreacting. I wish for everyone a deep sense of safety and calm, and the feeling of strength to defend those who are unsafe. But for moments when things don’t feel that way at all, I need music like this.” Ezra’s new album Goodbye Small Head is out May 16.
—
YUKIMI (LITTLE DRAGON) – “PEACE REIGN”
“Peace Reign is about not giving up on the dream that this world can be a peaceful place. Believing in hope and a brighter future for the generations to come,” says Yukimi of the latest single from her upcoming solo debut.
—
WEAKENED FRIENDS – “TORN” (NATALIE IMBRUGLIA / EDNASWAP COVER)
“This song was way too fun to play live, so we decided to record it,” Weakened Friends say of their new rendition of “Torn,” which Natalie Imbruglia had a hit with in 1997.
—
SNAPPED ANKLES – “SMART WORLD”
Snapped Ankles say “Smart World” is “an imagined conversation about AI” between Brian Eno and legendary Krautrock producer Conny Plank. “The pros and the cons. The opportunities and the ethical questions.” They also note, “Then we asked them to perform the song for the video. Or rather AI asked them. So here’s our fully unauthorised, self-created video that didn’t require the time or payment of any of the people in it. Nor any video directors, editors or other professionals. Welcome to the future. If Brian or the estate of Conny or Mark Fisher would like us to remove this video, we will happily do so. Watch it while it’s still up.” Snapped Ankles’ new album is out next week.

MY MORNING JACKET – “HALF A LIFETIME”
My Morning Jacket’s new album “is” out this week and here’s one last preview. “Half a Lifetime” has been kicking around as a demo since Z but they finally did a full studio recording.
—
DERADOORIAN – “ANY OTHER WORLD”
Deradoorian says her new album Ready for Heaven “is partly about watching humanity erode. It’s about mental struggle, and it’s avowedly anti-capitalist. I mean; would we have all these identity labels we have to live by, if we didn’t live in a capitalist world?” Here’s the very new wavey new single.

CASINO HEARTS – “WORST THAT COULD HAPPEN”
LA psych band Casino Hearts have shared “Worst That Could Happen” from their new Walk in the Grass EP. “We were all feeling insane and helpless at the time and wanted to make music which reflected that feeling. Jacob sent over an unhinged demo that he made while experimenting with guitars in his sampler,” says the band’s Forest Holter. “The chorus he wrote sounded like kids teasing each other on a playground and I knew I wanted to write something that felt just as haunting and whimsical. Every day this song feels even more true and I thank god for the release in shouting these lyrics.”
