Earlier this month, Chase added new Instacart benefits to a number of credit cards. While the credits are just $10 or $20 per month depending on which card you have, they can be used even when you’re using an Instacart balance to pay (so long as the backup card is a qualifying card).

I believe that you need to set the qualifying card as the payment method or backup payment method in order to use the benefit. According to Doctor of Credit, the monthly credit does work in conjunction with using an existing Instacart balance, but I don’t think there is any way to combine credits from multiple of the above cards.

Getting a $20 monthly credit on a couple of credit cards with no annual fee certainly seems like a great deal for anyone who can make use of the benefit.

Bottom line

The usefulness of these credits obviously depends on whether you use Instacart. If you are able to buy from some stores without a markup or use discounts to effectively reduce the markup (or you just like the convenience of delivery), getting this new benefit on a bunch of cards that you might have in your wallet is surely a nice enhancement. Keep in mind that the complimentary Instacart+ membership is only good for 3 months, after which you’ll be charged.
