John Galm (Snowing) announces first proper solo album in 11 years (hear “lmlu”)
Emo revival OGs Snowing are back for reunion shows this year, and singer John Galm has also re-activated his solo career with some of his best material yet.

Emo revival OGs Snowing are coming back this year and so far they’ve announced that they’re opening part of Bear vs Shark’s Terrorhawk 20th anniversary tour and playing Best Friends Forever and New Friends Fest, and on top of that, singer John Galm is releasing his first proper solo album since 2014’s Sky of No Stars.
It’s called River of Blood, and it comes out on May 16 via Count Your Lucky Stars, the same label that released Snowing’s sole album I Could Do Whatever I Wanted If I Wanted. It includes his recent single “Summer After Work,” and we’re premiering new single “lmlu,” which stands for “let me love you.”
John says, “I grew up down the road from the Lehigh River. Train tracks run alongside it, and I’d hear them passing through town as I’d fall asleep at night. I don’t think there’s any sound that puts me more at ease than a train going by. I think this song is about trying to find that peace again.”
Like “Summer After Work,” it finds John putting his spin on the somber indie folk of artists like Sufjan Stevens, Iron & Wine, and Elliott Smith. It’s a far cry from the music John will be playing on the road with Snowing this year, and it’s some of his best music yet. Listen below, and pre-order the album here.
