James Gunn Shares SUPERGIRL: WOMAN OF TOMORROW Behind-The-Scenes Photo of Milly Alcock

James Gunn just gave fans a quiet little tease from Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and while it’s not the full costume reveal some are hoping for, it’s a great sign of things moving forward. The filmmaker dropped a behind-the-scenes photo of Milly Alcock, the House of the Dragon breakout star, reading Tom King’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic. It’s the very same series the upcoming DC Studios film will draw its story from. While her suit hasn’t been revealed yet, I’m sure it will come soon. CinemaCon is happening this week, and while Warner Bros. will have a presence, most of the spotlight is expected to be on Superman. So if you’re hoping for a big Supergirl reveal during the event, temper expectations. A glimpse would be great, but we’ll just have to wait and see.Gunn clearly sees something in her and it’ll be exciting when we actually get to see her in costume and in action. When Gunn first announced the project, he offered a clear perspective on how this version of Kara Zor-El would stand apart from the cheery, upbeat version many fans are used to.“We see the difference between Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he was an infant, versus Supergirl who was raised on a rock, a chip off Krypton.“[She] watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then came to Earth when she was a young girl. She’s much more hardcore, she’s not exactly the Supergirl we’re used to seeing.”So far, we know Alcock will be joined in the film by David Krumholtz (Oppenheimer) and Emily Beecham (Into The Badlands), who will play Kara's biological mother and father Alura and Zor-El, Eve Ridley (3 Body Problem) who will play Ruthye Marye Knoll, and Matthias Schoenaerts (The Old Guard) will play the villainous Krem of the Yellow Hills. Aquaman star Jason Momoa joined the cast as Lobo, and Krypto the Superdog is also going to play a role in the story.Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has begun shooting, and is expected to arrive in theaters on June 26, 2026. Today we celebrate #Supergirl and all her various incarnations.
