Nathan Fillion Will Reprise His Role as Guy Gardner in DC Studio's LANTERNS Series
Nathan Fillion is officially reporising his role of Guy Gardner in DC Studio’s upcoming Lanterns HBO series. Fillion will make his debut as Gardener in James Gunn’s Superman, and it makes sense that he would also be a part of Lanterns.Fillion also voiced Hal Jordan in a string of animated DC films, starting with Green Lantern: Emerald Knights (2011), and continuing through Justice League: Doom, Flashpoint Paradox, Throne of Atlantis, The Death of Superman, and Reign of the Supermen. He joins a strong ensemble cast that includes Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan, Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, along with Kelly MacDonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Jasmine Cephas Jones, and Ulrich Thomsen. While previously talking about playing Gardener, Fillion said: “He's a jerk! What’s important to know is, you don’t have to be good to be a Green Lantern; you just have to be fearless. So Guy Gardner is fearless, and he is not very good. “He’s not nice, which is very freeing as an actor because you just think to yourself, what is the most selfish, self-serving thing I can do in this moment? And that’s the answer. That’s what you do in that moment. “I think if he has a superpower, it might be his overconfidence, in that he thinks he could take on Superman. He can’t!”The series follows Lantern legend Hal Jordan and new recruit John Stewart, “two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.”The creative team consists of Chris Mundy (Ozark), who is showrunning, with Damon Lindelof (Watchmen) and DC Comics’ own Tom King onboard as co-writers and executive producers. James Hawes directed and executive produced, with Stephen Williams, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Alik Sakharov also directing episodes. This seems like it will be an interesting take on the Green Lantern world with its grounded, serialized form of storytelling.Source: Deadline
