Miley Cyrus has announced yet another new single – listen to a preview of ‘End Of The World’ below.
The singer is due to release her ninth album ‘Something Beautiful’ on May 30 via Columbia, and has already revealed its striking cover art. Cyrus serves as executive producer on the LP, alongside Shawn Everett (Kacey Musgraves, Alabama Shakes).
Earlier this week, Cyrus shared the dramatic and ominous first taste of the “bold” record with the dramatic and ominous ‘Prelude’. She then dropped the explosive title track shortly afterwards.
Now, Cyrus has confirmed that she’ll release ‘End Of The World’ tomorrow (Thursday April 3).
“Reinforcing the project’s immersive, operatic approach, these songs mark the beginning of a carefully structured journey,” a message read alongside a preview of the song’s official music video. Each release following the sequence of the album and the film.
“End Of The World will be released on April 3 at 8pm ET / 5pm PT.”
“Let’s pretend it’s not the end of the world,” Cyrus sings in the visuals, while laying down in front a drum kit. Tune in here:
Cyrus debuted ‘End Of The World’ during a stripped-back performance at Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles early last year. Check out the performance in the video above.
Following on from 2023’s ‘Endless Summer Vacation’, the star’s upcoming new album will also be accompanied by a “visual” film version – directed by Cyrus, Jacob Bixenman and Brendan Walter. This is set to arrive in cinemas in June.
The movie has been called “a one-of-a-kind pop opera from the mind of Miley Cyrus”. The official description reads: “A unique visual experience, fuelled by fantasy, including 13 original songs from the upcoming album.”
She previously suggested that the album would be inspired by Pink Floyd’s ‘The Wall’. “We really leaned in. And so I have this heart-first attachment to it. My idea was making ‘The Wall’, but with a better wardrobe and more glamorous and filled with pop culture,” she said.
In a four-star review of ‘Endless Summer Vacation’, NME wrote: “It all adds up to an album that holds your full attention even if it isn’t Cyrus’s boldest or most visionary. ‘Endless Summer Vacation’ certainly feels like an accurate reflection of who she is as an artist – and a person – in 2023.”
