Jack Black has revealed his is having “night terrors” ahead of his first time hosting Saturday Night Live in 20 years.

The actor and musician was announced as the host of the April 5 edition of the sketch show earlier this month, where he will be joined by musical guests Elton John and Brandi Carlile.

With a week to go before the show, Black appeared at the London premiere of his new film A Minecraft Movie in Leicester Square on Sunday (March 30), where he was asked about his state of mind for his SNL return.

He told Variety that it feels “cray cray” and “very exciting” to be hosting the NBC show again, adding he is “having lots of nightmares and night terrors and also fond memories flooding back.”

Asked how he thinks the writer’s room will go ahead of the live broadcast on Saturday, he added: “You know what they’re thinking about right now? They are just all in a dead coma from last night’s show. Maybe some of them are thinking of some ideas, but I’m really thinking it’s one of those shows they put together in one week, that’s part of the excitement.”

Black has hosted three times in the past, the most recent of those coming in December 2005 while promoting Peter Jackson’s King Kong.

A Minecraft Movie is based on the titular best-selling video game, which is set in a land made entirely of square-shaped blocks called the Overworld. It stars Black as Steve, a man obsessed with mining who gets pulled into the Overworld after finding a mysterious glowing block.

He’s later joined through the portal by four others: Jason Momoa’s Garrett ‘The Garbage Man’ Garrison, Danielle Brooks’ Dawn, Emma Myers’ Natalie and Sebastian Hansen’s Henry.

Last week, Black shared his original song, ‘I Feel Alive’, from the film’s soundtrack. WaterTower Music, part of the Warner Bros. movie studio, released an official lyric video for the uplifting new rock song on YouTube on March 20. You can watch it here.
