Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first footage from “There Will Be Blood” and “Phantom Thread” director Paul Thomas Anderson’s next film with the clip finally confirming its title of “One Battle After Another”.
Clocking in at 21 seconds, the footage was released through the studio’s social media apps and is essentially a tease for the film’s first trailer which will go online next week.
It also follows on from yesterday’s news that the film is being delayed a month and will now open on September 26th – the latter slot suggesting a likely Fall film festival run followed by theatrical release which will include an IMAX component.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Wood Harris, Shayna McHayle and Alana Haim star in the film which is easily Anderson’s most expensive film to date – a budget of over $130 million.
Plots specific are under wraps, but it has been dubbed a modern-day film adaptation of Thomas Pynchon’s “Vineland”. That book unfolded in Northern California 1984 and dealt with the consequences of the 60s hippie movement in the era of Reaganomics.
Michael Bauman is lensing the film in 35mm VistaVision, while Radiohead’s Johnny Greenwood is handling the score.
