“The Substance” and “Maid” actress Margaret Qualley is rumored to be taking on the role of Rogue in the reboot of “X-Men” at Marvel Studios.
The Hot Mic’s Jeff Sneider reported the rumor, adding Qualley’s name to the growing list of rumored candidates for the film which have included the likes of Julia Butters (“The Fabelmans”) for Kitty Pride, Sadie Sink (“Stranger Things”) for Jean Grey, Harris Dickinson (“Babygirl”) for Cyclops, Hunter Schafer (“Euphoria”) for Mystique, and Tom Glynn-Carney (“House of the Dragon”) in an unknown role.
The film is expected to be one of the two untitled movies Marvel has set aside a date for in 2027 – one in July, one in November. Which one will depend upon when the movie kicks off shooting.
Previous reports suggested the standalone “X-Men” film could start production as early as October, though Marvel’s Nate Moore this week seemed to tamp down that talk saying the situation with the X-Men in the MCU is “very fluid” right now.
One issue is that there is still no director attached to the project, only a writer in the film of Michael Lesslie. Jordan Peele was rumored to have met with Marvel boss Kevin Feige to potentially direct, but that’s not happening it seems.
Marvel is next set to film “Avengers: Doomsday” which goes into production in the UK next month.
