Erykah Badu Is Working on Her First Studio Album in 15 Years
Erykah Badu has revealed that her sixth studio album is officially on the way.Billboard announced in a recent interview that the High Priestess of Neo-Soul is currently working with The Alchemist for her New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh) followup, which will arrive 15 years since her last studio effort. No additional information about the record was shared, but Badu did talk about the current state of hip-hop despite not following it as closely as she used to. “[The thing I like about rap right now] is the same thing I liked about rap when I first met it,” she said.She continued, “Rap is the people. Hip-hop is the people. It’s the folks. It’s the tribe. I have the luxury of experiencing having children who I watch grow up and love and encourage very much, and I cannot separate them when I see artists who are that age coming up. That’s how they feel.
