Deerhoof announce 20th album and tour, share “Immigrant Songs”
Deerhoof’s ‘Noble and Godlike in Ruin’ is out April 25 via Joyful Noise.

Deerhoof have announced their 20th album, Noble and Godlike in Ruin, which will be out April 25 via Joyful Noise. They produced it themselves, and it features Saul Williams on the song “Under Rats.”
The album includes recent singles “Sparrow Sparrow” and “Underrated Species,” and the new single, “Immigrant Songs,” was announced via Craigslist of all places. “This song is kind of a sequel to Satomi describing her immigration tribulations in ‘Exit Only,'” says the band’s Greg Saunier. “It’s what it feels like to see the discourse around immigration get so twisted. The most criminal and barbaric ‘migrant horde’ to invade America was from Europe. There’s a sector of racialized, underpaid immigrants, doing labor white people won’t, who are getting deported and dehumanized in record numbers in recent years. They are really the glue keeping our society from collapsing. It’s these heroic fugitives, not millionaire politicians holding little signs with one hand while sending out fundraising emails about ‘strengthening our borders’ with the other, who actually have a thing or two to teach us all about how to resist and survive.”
You can listen to “Immigrant Songs” below.
Deerhoof have also announced an extensive North American tour which includes a Brooklyn show at Pioneer Works on June 28 with iiisa. All dates are listed below.
