SSP has opened two new outlets at Zurich Central Station, enhancing the food-to-go offer at Switzerland’s busiest rail hub.

SSP own-brand Point retails a curated assortment of essential items, including groceries, magazines and travel accessories. Spanning 115 square meters of sales space, the new store offers a simple, one-stop shopping experience. The new store is the first Point to open in Switzerland, adding to the 58 existing Point units that SSP operates globally.

At the heart of Point’s range are many regional Swiss products, giving those on the go an authentic taste of Switzerland. Products from local Jucker Farm shops and coffees from Zurich-based coffee roaster Stoll are the ideal supplement to the Point snack range. The service style has been designed to be speedy, meeting the demands of the time-pressed customer.

Ida & Frida, a brand also created by SSP with a clearly defined wellness and sustainability proposition with a focus on providing healthier fast food, offers regional snacks including whole grain breads and hot sandwiches alongside freshly squeezed juices and smoothies. All the products served in the 39 square metre store are exclusively to take-away.

Regina Pfeiffer, General Manager SSP Switzerland, said; “At both Point and Ida & Frida guests will be able to use a range of digital technologies including LCD screens and digital payment to make their selection quickly and easily. Sustainable practices have been a key consideration in the planning of these new offers, from the choice of shop fittings to the sourcing of electricity and the design of the product ranges.”

Marina Stettler, SBB Team Leader Leasing, emphasised the importance of the new partnership: “Our goal is to create a diverse and recognisable range of stations that combines established concepts with local and new offerings. With a strong range of local products and healthier propositions, SSP’s new outlets perfectly complement the station offer, in line with our customer needs.”

The new Point store is located in the Passage Sihlquai, while the Ida & Frida, which welcomed its first guests in February, can be found in the Gessnerallee passage Halle Landesmuseum.

Zurich Central Station, which was opened in 1893, is one of the busiest in Europe.
