NTT Docomo and Libalent Will Form a New Global Manga Brand

NTT Docomo Studio & Live, a subsidiary company of one of Japan's major mobile phone operators, announced that it is working with Libalent to establish a new manga publisher label. The companies will use the new brand to publish Japanese manga globally while producing new manga IPs simultaneously. The companies provided more details on the new label project in the press release. They noted that only a few percent of Japanese manga titles have been localized in multiple languages. The companies have pledged to bring those titles to digital platforms frequented by people in the Anglosphere, as well as emerging Asian markets with a high interest in Japanese culture, such as Thailand and India. In addition, they will launch projects for two new manga titles made in collaboration with renowned mangaka artists and publishing platforms within the year 2025. Upon further inspection, NTT Docomo Studio & Live and Libalent have also been tied with the same FANY brand from the major Japanese entertainment agency, Yoshimoto Kogyo. The former's official website link leads to FANY Studio, which currently showcases variety shows starring the agency's celebrity talents. One of the shows listed is Noda Crystal's Final Fantasy XIV Club, which had 26 episodes aired in 2023. Meanwhile, Libalent's Toon Studio showcase includes two manga titles that are available to read via FANY Story. NTT Docomo Studio & Live and Libalent will formally publish the new global manga publishing label in due time.
