Warner Bros. Discovery is reorganizing its streaming division, TheWrap has learned. The company’s streaming content acquisition teams across its global territories will now fall under the U.S.-based Royce Battleman. She is also being promoted to executive vice president of global content acquisitions.
As part of this shuffling, Battleman will now oversee content acquisitions across North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia. She will report directly to Joshua Walker, Chief Financial and Strategy Officer. Battleman previously served as the head of U.S. content acquisitions for Max and Discovery+, the company’s two streaming services.
“Establishing this global team allows us to better manage worldwide and multi-regional content partners and optimize deals across all regions,” Walker said in a statement to press. “The structure will ensure that our acquisitions are tightly aligned with our global content strategy, planning and analysis, and financials for Max and discovery+ platforms worldwide.”
The current heads of WBD’s Streaming Content Acquisitions teams will remain in their current roles, but moving forward they will report to Battleman. Those under Battleman’s leadership include Ragnhild Thorbech, SVP Programming and Acquisitions for Europe, Middle East and Africa; Magdalene Ew, Head of Content for Streaming for Asia-Pacific; Andres Mendoza, Head of Content Acquisitions and Programming for Premium and Streaming for Latin America; as well as Elizabeth Bannan and Tiffany Tulba, Vice Presidents of Content Acquisition for the U.S.
No roles are being eliminated as a result of this reorganization.
In her role overseeing U.S. Content Acquisitions, Battleman was responsible for securing Max’s deals with A24 and overseeing the deal that kept “Friends.” She also oversaw the launch of the streaming service HBO Max in 2020 as well as its 2023 pivot to Max.
