Rachel Maddow Says It’s ‘Astonishing’ Trump Hasn’t Fired Anyone Over Signal Group Chat, Mocks His ‘2 Perfect Months’ | Video

Rachel Maddow said it’s “astonishing” that President Trump hasn’t fired anyone over the Signal group chat scandal and, point by point, listed multiple reasons why his first two months in office have been far from “perfect,” as he claimed.

“President Trump has not fired anyone for this debacle, which is astonishing. He did confess to NBC News in a new interview that he sees this as a, quote, ‘glitch.’ A glitch. He said this scandal has been, quote, ‘the only glitch in two months,’ she said at the beginning of a segment on Thursday.

She continued, “Between you and me, you’ve been alive for these past two months, and you’ve experienced what the first two months of this Trump term have been like.”

Maddow went on to list a number of the administrative failures since Trump took office in January, including the Jan. 29 plane crash outside Reagan National Airport in D.C. that killed 67 people, which occurred the day after Trump ordered air traffic controllers to take a buyout.

“Less than a week later, he reversed course. ‘Oh, actually, no—maybe that’s a bad idea. Air traffic controllers, please don’t leave,'” Maddow said.

She also recalled the questionable hiring of a DOJ staffer nicknamed “Big Balls,” who had previously been fired from a cybersecurity firm for leaking company secrets. “Great choice,” she said.

Among the other fiascos she mentioned: Trump firing staffers at the nuclear security agency and people at the CDC responsible for tracking the ongoing bird flu outbreak, as well as the decimation of National Park Service staff.

“So, they did that, and then—oops—turns out they realized they couldn’t do that. Turns out it would be wildly dangerous to radically understaff America’s national parks. Who knew?,” Maddow said.

She then moved on to DOGE cuts at the Department of Veterans Affairs, which included, “things like, oh, I don’t know, medical services for veterans, cancer programs, burial services for veterans who die. Boy, that really does sound wasteful, right?

Moving into March, she cited a U.S. intelligence agencies report that Russia and China were trying to recruit disgruntled former government employees as intelligence assets.

“Tired of all the winning yet?” she asked.
