MILAN, IT – Sina Hotels, a collection of 11 landmark luxury hotels throughout Italy run by the president of Federalberghi, Bernabò Bocca, announce its biggest hotel brand expansion to date in Milan, Italy. Sina The Gray, a design-forward five-star property located steps away from the Duomo, will expand into the historic Galleria Ciro Fontana, currently occupied by the Municipality of Milan, after winning a bid to develop and extensively renovate the building. Opened in 2003, Sina The Gray is the brand’s second property in Milan, just 300 feet away from Sina De La Ville, its first.

Winning the 43 million euros tender will increase the hotel’s space by over 21,500 square feet and double Sina The Gray’s key count from 21 rooms and suites to over 52, many of which with views of the iconic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. In addition to more than doubling its rooms and suites, Sina The Gray will unveil a luxurious wellness spa featuring bespoke treatment rooms, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and an expansive panoramic restaurant offering breathtaking city views paired with authentic Italian fare.

With global hospitality investors becoming increasingly interested in Italy, this expansion marks a pivotal moment in Sina Hotels’ history and is a part of a larger strategy for the brand. Sina Hotels was founded in 1958 by Count Ernesto Bocca and stands today as the longest-lasting luxury hotel group in Italy owned and operated by the same family. The Milan expansion compliments the brand’s strategy of strengthening its real estate assets through the renovation and enhancement of the hotel. Each of Sina Hotels’ properties, with outposts in some of Italy’s most sought-after destinations such as Rome, Florence, Venice, Capri, and Milan, along with hidden gem destinations such as Viareggio, Turin, and Parma are steeped in rich aristocratic heritage featuring Italian craftsmanship and authentic cultural guest experiences.

“We are immensely proud to announce the expansion of Sina The Gray, a monumental moment in the history of Sina Hotels,” said Bernabò Bocca, director of Sina Hotels, founded in 1958 by his father. “Sina Hotels is exquisitely Italian,” he added, “we remain driven by our family’s passion for hospitality, and we are excited to continue this journey of growth and excellence in one of Italy’s iconic cities.”

The phased renovation is slated to break ground January 2026 and has an estimated completion date of 2027. To maintain a cohesive design between the hotel expansion and the existing space, Sina Hotels has enlisted the help of Sina The Gray’s architect, Guido Ciompi, known for the Sina Centurion Palace in Venice, Sina Bernini Bristol in Rome and Sina The Gray in Milan. Once complete, Sina Hotels will begin reinvigorating its original Milan location to match its new addition.
