The terrifying soundtrack to the remake of Silent Hill 2 will be released on vinyl later this year, with a massive 93-track 6LP boxset available.

The original Silent Hill 2 was released in 2001 and a huge remake launched late last year that respected the original game, while also modernising it. The new version of Silent Hill 2 also featured a reworked take on Akira Yamaoka’s original score.

Now, Konami has teamed up with Laced Records to make that score available on vinyl for the very first time.

Due for release in October, Laced are releasing a 6LP vinyl boxset featuring 93 specially mastered tracks from the Silent Hill 2 soundtrack “The set boasts Laced-exclusive opaque brown + red A-side/B-side effect heavyweight LPs and a 32-page art booklet with exclusive liner notes written by Akira Yamaoka,” while the artwork has been created by Bloober Team, who developed the remake. A double LP vinyl will also be available, featuring 27 tracks sequenced by Yamaoka.

“Yamaoka completely reworked the soundtrack for Bloober Team’s critically lauded remake. Brand new and re-recorded cues for 2024’s Silent Hill 2 perfectly capture the eerie atmosphere of the titular town, fusing elements of trip-hop and industrial rock with dark ambience and musique concrète. This new soundtrack will feel both familiar and fresh to ardent fans of the beloved survival horror series,” reads a press release.

The 6LP boxset will cost £125 while the double LP is available for £36. Pre-orders for both are now live via the Laced store.

“After nearly a quarter of a century, Silent Hill 2 has been revived,” said Yamaoka in a statement. “I’ve poured a tremendous amount of thought and passion into this thing called Silent Hill. Touching it again evoked a special emotion I had never felt before—as if I was touching the breath of God. Writing this music was a personal challenge, but I feel a deep sense of gratitude towards the people around the world who have loved this series for so long.”

Last week, it was confirmed a “faithful” adaptation of Silent Hill 2 would be heading to cinemas.

Return To Silent Hill is the third Silent Hill film and sees the return of director Christophe Gans, who was behind the 2006 adaptation. “Return To Silent Hill is an adaptation created out of deep respect for a true masterpiece of a game. I hope fans will enjoy and be fulfilled with the experience this new film has to offer,” said Gans in a statement.

In other news, GTA 6 fans think a new take on beloved throwback map Liberty City will feature in the new game.
