Sex Pistols (with Frank Carter) announce first North American tour in 20+ years

The Sex Pistols have been playing shows again, with Frank Carter (Gallows, Pure Love, Frank Carter & the Rattlesnakes) singing in place of Johnny Rotten, and now they’ve announced their first North American tour in two decades. The last time they played here was in 2003, with Johnny in tow. The band–whose lineup is rounded out by Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock–will kick things off in Dallas on September 16 and they’ll also hit DC, Philly, Toronto, Cleveland, and more before wrapping up at LA’s Hollywood Palladium on October 16. There’s a TBD Brooklyn show on September 27. Any guesses on the venue?

Tickets for the tour go on sale Friday, April 4 at 10 AM local time with pre-sales beginning April 1. All dates are listed below.

In an interview about the tour, Frank Carter said, “I think everybody needs this band right now. I think the world needs this band right now. And I think definitely America is screaming out for a band like the Sex Pistols.”

“At the end of the day, we’re living in a really, really difficult time. So not only do people want to come and just be entertained, they want to enjoy themselves,” he continued. “Punk is an energetic music. It’s one where you can go and vent and let your hair down, hopefully in a safe manner. Fingers crossed, no bottles or pigs’ hooves.”

Johnny Rotten (aka John Lydon) meanwhile, said the Pistols touring with Frank is “almost malicious in its intent. And it’s karaoke – that’s all it will ever be.”
