37 years after its initial release, Operation Ivy‘s 1988 debut EP Hectic is getting its first cassette release. It originally came out as a 7″ on Lookout! Records (it was the label’s third release) and was later compiled with Op Ivy’s full-length Energy for their 1991 self-titled discography compilation. And now, Tapehead City is bringing it to cassette. It’s limited to 1000 copies and up for pre-order now.
Like Energy, Hectic is one of the first-ever and best ska-punk releases, and it’s not just influential on ska-punk but on pretty much the entire punk boom of the ’90s and 2000s and it remains super influential today.
