Watch Pavement play “Harness Your Hopes” on Colbert; ‘PAVEMENTS’ soundtrack announced

The Pavement movie PAVEMENTS is in theaters now and to celebrate the band got back together to play their streaming hit “Harness Your Hopes” on Late Night with Stephen Colbert. This was the first time they’d played together since their Sony Hall show last fall during the New York Film Festival and it kinda showed, but a couple bum notes is also very Pavement and the band seemed to be having fun, with Bob Nastanovich quipping at the end, “This next one’s called ‘Debris Slide’!” as it faded out. PAVEMENTS is playing in NYC and LA and opens today in San Francisco, with more cities being added on May 30. Head here for cities and theaters.

Meanwhile, the PAVEMENTS original motion picture soundtrack was just announced and will be released digitally on May 30 with a physical release due later this year. It includes recordings from the Slanted! Enchanted! jukebox musical, dialogue clips from the film (including the fake biopic Range Life) and live and rehearsal tapes from the band’s 2021 reunion tour. Spiral Stairs had said there was a “new” Pavement song on the soundtrack but it’s a little hard to tell just looking at the sprawling 41-song tracklist, and no song has been shared from it yet.
