Legendary PS5, PS4 Shooter Just $3.99 on PS Store

A legendary shooter has been discounted by 60% for the PS5 and PS4 in a limited-time PS Store deal that ends in a week. Id Software’s 1997 classic Quake II is just $3.99 until the sale ends on May 22.

If you’re craving an id Software classic after Doom: The Dark Ages, Quake II is a no-brainer. The modern version comes with both online and local multiplayer as well as co-op alongside one of the most popular single-player shooter campaigns of the 90s.

Quake II mostly retains its original aesthetic, but with support for 4K, widescreen resolution, improved animations and AI, enhanced cinematics, improved lighting, and much more. The package also includes the all-new “Call of the Machine” expansion.

“Mankind is at war with the Strogg, a hostile alien race that attacked Earth,” reads Quake II’s synopsis. “In response, humanity launched a strike on the Strogg homeworld…it failed, but you survived.”

A Quake 1 & 2 bundle is also available, but unfortunately, isn’t discounted at the time of this writing. Quake 1 is currently full price as well.

PS Plus Premium subscribers can stream Quake II. Trophy hunters will be pleased to note that the game comes with a quick and easy Platinum trophy.
