Young Stalin
“Shōgun” star Cosmo Jarvis will play future Soviet leader Joseph Stalin in the period thriller “Young Stalin” at Access Entertainment, AI Film and Monte Rosso Productions. Filming begins in Tbilisi in July.
Georgian-French helmer Géla Babluani (“13 Tzameti”) has signed on to direct the project based on the acclaimed bestseller by Simon Sebag Montefiore. Babluani and Sebag Montefiore wrote the screenplay.
The film charts the early days of the Soviet ruler when he was a gangster in Imperial Russia’s criminal underworld who helped pull off the largest bank heist in Russian history in 1907 when he was just 29. [Source: Variety]
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake
Ubisoft also confirmed as part of its quarterly earnings documents that the long-delayed “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” remake will release during its current business year ending in March 2026.
The news comes as Ubisoft has confirmed it has delayed unannounced titles in their majorf franchises to give them more additional development time. [Source: VGC]
Victorian Psycho
Maika Monroe will play a killer governess in the psychological horror thriller “Victorian Psycho” which Zachary Wigon will direct based on the book by Virginia Feito. Thomasin McKenzie co-stars.
Set in 1858, the story centers on Winifred Notty, a governesss hiding her psychopathic tendencies while arriving to work at a remote gothic manor. As staff members begin to inexplicably disappear, the owners of the estate begin to wonder. [Source: THR]
Task
HBO has premiered the trailer for “Mare of Easttown” creator Brad Ingelsby’s “Task,” a seven-episode limited series about an FBI task force in Philadelphia and the working class criminals behind a string of violent robberies that they’re trying to apprehend.
Mark Ruffalo is set to star and will also serve as an executive producer. Tom Pelphrey, Emilia Jones, Jamie McShane, Sam Keeley, Thuso Mbedu, Fabien Frankel, Alison Oliver, Raúl Castillo, Silvia Dionicio, Phoebe Fox, and Martha Plimpton co-star. The series launches in September.
Die, My Love
The first clip has been released for Lynne Ramsay’s thriller “Die, My Love” starring Robert Pattinson and Jennifer Lawrence. Ramsay co-wrote the script with Enda Walsh and the film is set to have its premiere at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.
Set in rural America, it is the portrait of a woman (Lawrence) engulfed by love and madness. Pattinson plays Lawrence’s husband, while LaKeith Stanfield plays her lover. Sissy Spacek and Nick Nolte co-star.
