Charlie Cox Teases Bigger Role for Karen Page and 'Coolest Stuff' Yet in DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Season 2
After the bumpy road that Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 took to reach screens, complete with rewrites, reshoots, and some polarizing storytelling decisions, Charlie Cox is feeling a wave of relief.Speaking to TVLine at Disney’s Upfronts, Cox admitted the fan reaction to the first season was more intense than he anticipated. “It’s different, plus we did some things in that first season that fans might not be too pleased about,” he said, acknowledging the mixed reception. One moment he wasn’t particularly fond of? Episode 5. “I don’t believe in a bank heist in 2025,” Cox said. “It wasn’t necessarily my favorite, but it goes to show you can never tell what people are going to want.”But things are moving forward. Season 2 is already halfway through filming, and Cox says the tone is darker, grittier, and more charged with political pressure, which is exactly the kind of material fans associate with classic Daredevil. “We are living in a very oppressive, claustrophobic New York,” Cox explained. “You’re frightened to be out, to be seen… you can’t voice your concerns, your desire for change…. It’s very French Resistance.”One of the most exciting updates is that Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page is back in a much bigger way. After only popping up briefly in Season 1, Cox promised fans, “a lot more” Karen in the upcoming season. And his reaction to that return? “Thank God.”Cox also teased that this isn’t just more screen time—it’s impactful screen time. “Some of the stuff she’s up to is some of the coolest stuff she’s ever had,” he said, even comparing it to her entire arc across the original Netflix series’ 39 episodes. “She’s amazing in this season.”With a returning Defender, Jessica Jones, in the mix, Mayor Fisk turning the city into a pressure cooker, and Karen Page stepping into the spotlight again, I’m excited to see what Season 2 is going to deliver!
