Nothing CMF Phone 2 concept reimagined with customizable back panels adds spice to your daily grind

Nothing CMF Phone 2 is on the way, and some leaks on the web give us a fair idea of what to expect from the budget offering that punches way above its weight. The highly anticipated successor to the CMF Phone 1 was seen in leaked images with a triple camera setup on the rear. In an earlier leak, the Phone 2 was seen on a BIS listing with model number A001. This Nothing sub-brand CMF’s smartphone is very close to release and in all likelihood be first released for the Indian market.

The leaked renders of the device mostly show the rear panel, which shows a triple camera housing, which should excite people who are eagerly waiting for the release. Apart from the cameras, the phone has a contoured design on the corners for better grip. As per the leaked post by the Reddit user, the phone has a compact form factor, meaning it could come with a smaller display than the predecessor, which has a 6.7-inch screen.

CMF Phone 2 could be released as early as next month or later on in May. Going by the Phone 1’s release date in July, this speculation seems a safe bet. Until then, Sergey’s concept design gives us an idea of what to expect. The designer imagines most of the phone’s hardware and software details around the speculated data. However, there’s an added element of surprise on this CMF Phone 2 in the form of a modular, interchangeable aspect at the skin level. It comes with an interchangeable back panel to swap parts and add more style to your otherwise sober phone. The user can attach different cases to the two-part back panel and functional accessories as well.

Contrary to the speculated smaller display, this one gets the same 6.7-inch panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate and a 5,000mAh battery. Another point of disagreement is the suggested Snapdragon Gen 3 chipset, as per many leaks. This concept design believes the device to come with MediaTek Dimensity 7350 5G chipset mated to 20 GB of RAM and 256GB storage expandable to 1 TB. The cameras on the device include a dual 50MP main and ultrawide shooter, while on the front there is a 32MP sensor. Regarding customization, the phone has many options, such as the body color and the texture of the buttons. The swap is as simple as unscrewing the back panel and replacing it with the new panel parts. The IP54-rated Phone 2 is powered by the Nothing OS 3.0 (powered by Android 15) with 2 years of Android upgrades and 3 years of security updates.

Till the time Nothing CMF Phone 2 is released, this idea of a customizable phone is refreshing. While most of the other hardware specifications look right on point, the colored exterior of the device adds spice to the overall design.
