Marriott Bonvoy and Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer have a partnership that allows points to be transferred between the two programs, including a rare airline-to-hotel transfer that currently receives a 20% bonus through March 31, 2025.

It’s nothing new that Marriott members can transfer points to airline miles, but this is somewhat unique, although the ratio is not good at all and may only be useful if your Krisflyer miles are due to expire.

You can access the Singapore Airlines website for this transfer promo here,

For this particular promotion, a 20% bonus is available when moving miles from Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer to Marriott Bonvoy:

Enjoy 20% bonus Marriott Bonvoy points when you convert your KrisFlyer miles (7 – 31 March 2025)

Receive 1,800 Marriott Bonvoy points (Usual: 1,500 Marriott Bonvoy points) for every 3,000 KrisFlyer miles converted.
*A minimum of 3,000 miles is required for a conversion, with a total maximum of 180,000 KrisFlyer miles per calendar year.

Use your Marriott Bonvoy points to redeem a variety of rewards including stays, travel experiences, shopping and more.

Why would anyone transfer points at a ratio of 3:1 when on the the other hand they also value it 3:1 to move points the other direction?

Example: You need 30,000 Marriott points to receive just 10,000 Singapore Airlines miles, however you need 30,000 Singapore Airlines miles to receive only 10,000 Marriott points. That’s a crazy ratio, horrible!

Here is an example of moving the minimum of 3,000 SIA miles to Marriott:

This crossed my mind as I currently have only 3,700 miles in my account but I use my SQ miles regularly and top them up with Amex points as needed.

I wouldn’t recommend doing it unless you have some random Krisflyer miles sitting in the account and they are just about to expire. I guess even 3:1 is better than nothing in that case. Plus the 20% bonus of course which isn’t yet baked in to the amount displayed on the Krisflyer site.

If you have a small amount of Krisflyer miles left, I also recommend having a look at the monthly Spontaneous Escapes. Usually routes such as SIN-KUL start at a bit over 5000 miles. Definitely a better use then sending the miles to Marriott.

Conclusion

As part of the 10 Million Miles celebration, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer and Marriott Bonvoy offer a 20% Bonus when moving points from Krisfler to Bonvoy, but the caveat in this case is the absolutely horrible ratio of 3:1.

It’s hard to make any use case for this transfer option other than the situation where your SIA miles are about to expire and you don’t want to pay for an extension or can use them in any way for a mileage award flight.

In any case, should you be interested in cleaning out your KrisFlyer account under this promotion, you have until March 31 to complete the transfer.
