Areas ushers in new gastronomic era at Dresden Central Station with €2 million food court

GERMANY. Areas has transformed the food court area of Dresden Central Station with the introduction of three culinary concepts today (25 March). They represent an €2 million (US$2.16 million) investment from the global travel restaurateur.

Sharing 1,158sq m in a striking space with 200 seats, the anchor concept is a two-floor Eataly restaurant.

Passengers walking through Dresden Central Station will be drawn in by the eye-catching new food court area, with Italian restaurant Eataly in prominent position

The line-up is completed by proprietary restaurant Speckmann’s, specialising in authentic German cuisine, and a Burger King.

Eataly is making its debut in Dresden with Areas its first German franchise partner.

A high-class dining experience awaits guests in the new Eataly restaurant

The restaurant is serving its original recipe pizza, focaccia and pasta dishes as part of a hospitality experience which includes a coffee lounge, an Italian pastry shop and an extensive food market selling original Italian specialities.

The food court features a gallery which offers excellent views of the station’s hustle and bustle.

Areas Deutschland CEO Anne-Pierre de Cosnac said, “Working with our partners, we have brought three concepts together in one space. Top-quality international products, traditional specialities and fast food – travellers and locals alike will be delighted.”

DB Station&Service Head of Commercial Sales, South East Regional Division Oliver Andrade Wittki commented, “By collaborating with Areas, we have gained an expert partner with outstanding knowledge of the food & beverage retail sector. This will transform Dresden Central Station into a new food hotspot.”

Dresden Central Station serves more than 60,000 passengers daily. ‍
