Nestled in the rolling hills of Huntington, West Virginia, lies the Heritage Farm Museum & Village, a replica Appalachian town that seeks to whisk you away to a time before 21st-century technology.  First opened in 1996, the farm has grown exponentially. Visitors can tour an operational blacksmith shop, with a smithy working historical forges, and walk through a frontier store packed to the rafters with delightful memorabilia. Museum exhibits explain technological advancements in the 19th century that aided local communities. The main exhibits delve into local transportation (from carriages to the Model T Ford), technology, industry and life.  The farm also features 5 miles of hiking trails across the museum's stunning, 500-acre property. Additionally, there are well-maintained bike trails on the property and a gravel walking path that passes some farm animals.
