Square Enix announced its mobile strategy RPG War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius will be shut down on May 29, 2025. The game is a spin-off of the Final Fantasy Brave Exvius mobile game which also shut down globally in October 2024. The statement on social media detailed the plans ahead of the end. Square Enix and the development team Gumi merged the Japanese and Global servers, in terms of content in September 2023. However, the Japanese version of the game is not slated to shut down alongside the global version. In advance of the shutdown, Square Enix and Gumi will be implement several changes. Starting on March 25, 2025, players will no longer be able to buy Visiore, the premium currency used to roll on the gachas or recharge stamina. Any Visiore currently in a player's possession will still be able to be used. The Special Shop will also be shutting down that same day, so no other real-money purchases can be made. Special events will be continuing until the end of service, however it is not known whether the story of the game will continue or be closed out in a final update to end the current arc for Global players. There will be a livestream to discuss the roadmap for the end of service on March 26, 2025. Players' account information will be deleted when the global version ends. War of the Visions' global version has been running since March 2020, and the closure announcement arrives on the game’s fifth anniversary. This announcement follows a collaboration with Final Fantasy XIV in December, 2024. The earlier events featuring Thancred and Y'shtola returned, and Final Fantasy XIV players were able to purchase outfits based on the Hero and Heroine of War of the Visions Mont and Macherie. With the Global closure of Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia, Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire, and now both War of the Visions and Brave Exvius proper, Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis is now the only current Final Fantasy mobile game available worldwide. Square Enix will shut down the War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius global servers on May 29, 2025. The game is on mobile devices.
