FKA Twigs cancels North American tour over visa issues

FKA Twigs has announced the cancellation of her North American ‘Eusexua’ tour dates – find out why below.

Today (March 26), FKA Twigs took to social media to share the unfortunate news, revealing that a handful of upcoming shows in the United States and Canada are being scrapped due to visa issues.

“Today I was informed that production did not fill out the correct paperwork in a timely manner for us to have our visas to come to the USA and perform,” the singer explained. “So that means by no choice of my own I will have to pull out of my New York, Chicago, and Toronto shows.”

FKA Twigs went on to explain: “For those of you who are wondering why I have to pull out of Toronto because it’s not part of the United States, it’s because of routing and just the complex beast that touring is. I don’t take this lightly. I’m completely devastated, to be honest with you. Completely heartbroken. All I want to do is be there with you and bring ‘Eusexua’ to you.”

She also added that she is actively “looking into how and why this happened,” and has promised to share updates regarding rescheduled dates as soon as possible.

FKA Twigs has not performed in the United States in 2019. She was due to perform in Chicago later tonight (March 26), followed by a Toronto show on March 30. She was then slated to perform in New York on April 3 and 4.

Additionally, she is scheduled to perform in San Francisco on April 19, though it would appear that the show is currently slated to proceed as planned, and that her team will be able to sort out their necessary visas by then.

She brought ‘Eusexua’ to London last week (March 21), with the show scoring a four-star review from NME‘s Alex Rigotti. Rigotti wrote: “Dancers hang chains connected to her dress to all four corners of the box and every spotlight is rigged onto her; Twigs has no choice but to bare her soul to the crowd. To end the set with a song that expresses such spiritual suffering with some of the most magnificent vocals is truly brave; every tremble and crack in her voice is deeply felt, and it’s the most connected we feel to her all night. Now that’s ‘Eusexua’.”

In a glowing five-star review of ‘Eusexua’, Aneesa Ahmed wrote for NME: “Twigs has successfully shown that the connection of music, movement, mind, soul and body can be converted into sound, weaving these elements into a cohesive and transcendent artistic experience. She brings her own assured sense of creativity and spirituality and combines it with her ability to materialise the intangible. As the album’s closing track says, “You’ve one life to live, do it freely”. What better note to leave it on?”
