Filmmaker Ryan Coogler says that the upcoming third “Black Panther” film is coming sooner than you might expect.
The “Creed” director, out promoting his soon to release film “Sinners,” appeared on the Nightcap podcast and offered some new information regarding the Marvel Studios sequel. Asked how long fans will have to wait, he could only say “Not long”.
Then asked about Denzel Washington’s potential casting in the film, something the actor himself teased a while back, Coogler indicates a deal isn’t closed as yet but everyone’s working towards making it happen:
“I’ve been dying to work with Denzel. I’m hoping we can make that happen. I’ve got every intention of working with him on that movie. As long as he’s interested, man, it’s going to happen. He’s a living legend and a great mentor for so many of us. He’s all about looking out for us, now.”
Specifics of Washington’s role in “Black Panther 3” are under wraps. Producer Nate Moore confirmed the next film won’t be “before Avengers” which was likely referring to both “Avengers” movies in the works for May 2026 & May 2027.
Both Letitia Wright’s Shuri/Black Panther and Tenoch Huerta’s Namor are set to appear in the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday” which is currently in production.
