Tom Dixon Unveils Whimsical Lighting Collection at Milan Design Week

As Milan Design Week 2025 kicks off, British designer Tom Dixon has unveiled an expansive range of brand new and familiar lighting designs, further exploring Dixon's play with distorted forms and highly reflective and refracted surfaces. Leading the AW25 line-up are debut releases for the WHIRL and SOFT lines, followed by continuations of previously introduced lines including POSE, MELT, and PRESS.With the WHIRL collection, Dixon evokes traditional Italian glass-blowing techniques and references to the Op-Art movement. Characterized by organically curving textures, the prominent orbs of the WHIRL line are imagined in various finishes, including clear glass with chrome bases and bronze glass with black bases. The silhouette is evocative of the popular MELT collection, which is celebrated with a Bronze and Dichroic edition for the 10th anniversary. Applied to a unique circle-pattern frame echoing molecular and crystalline formations, the lanterns are at once a nostalgic and fresh addition to Dixon's collection. Also adding a softer glow to the line, the AW25 release includes frosted variants of the PRESS line, including the Sphere Pendants, Mini Surface Lights, and Table Lights. Finally, Dixon expands on the existing POSE Portable and Task Lights, with POSE Surface Lights and Pendants, available in Silver, Kelp, and Putty.In addition to lighting, the brand introduces home accessories, focusing on tonal patterns and buildable design.
