Trailer: Al Pacino, Dan Stevens In “The Ritual”

The first trailer has been released for the new exorcism horror feature “The Ritual” starring Al Pacino and Dan Stevens which distributor XYZ Films is handling the U.S. release of.

The story follows Father Joseph Steiger (Stevens) and Father Theophilus (Pacino) who attempt to perform an exorcism on a possessed woman, Emma Schmidt (Abigail Cowen).

Schmidt had experienced frightening blackouts, aversion to holy objects, and other afflictions for years with her suffering documented. After extensive psychiatric treatment, a exorcism is attempted.

The marathon 72-hour exorcism took place in 1928 and darkness and evil quickly surround the convent where it is taking place – testing the faith of everyone present.

The synopsis calls it a “shocking true story of the most infamous exorcism in American history”. Ashley Greene, Maria Camila Giraldo, Meadow Williams, Patrick Fabian, and Patricia Heaton co-star.

David Midell directs the film and wrote the screenplay based on a story by him and Enrico Natale. Natale, Ross Marks, Andrew Stevens, and Mitchell Welch produce “The Ritual” which will be released in U.S. cinemas on June 6th.
