Sony has been quietly working on a PS5 Pro PSSR update that addresses visual issues experienced in some previously released games. Ubisoft has confirmed that it’s been working with Sony for several months to ensure that PSSR delivers an even better image quality, and the update should be available soon.
PS5 Pro PSSR update coming soon to Assassin’s Creed Shadows
It’s no secret that Sony regularly updates its PSSR tech behind the scenes. A number of developers have confirmed as much, with one even revealing the PSSR version being used in their game — information that Sony reportedly doesn’t want to disclose.
Speaking to Eurogamer, Ubisoft revealed that it didn’t implement PSSR support in Assassin’s Creed Shadows at launch because it had better results using its own proprietary upscaler. However, after working with Sony for months to address issues experienced in previous games, Ubisoft says it’s now “confident” that PSSR will outperform its own upscaling solution.
“PSSR is a new upscaler and after an in-depth collaboration with Sony over the past few months, many issues have been addressed, mostly around moving vegetation and water – problems that other titles have faced,” the developer told Eurogamer.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ PS5 Pro performance has been unanimously praised even without PSSR implementation, so fans can rest assured that stunning visuals await them following the update.
