Marriott has rolled out a May update (yes – they do these almost monthly) to the Terms and Conditions governing its Bonvoy guest loyalty program.

The most recent update deals with Ritz-Carlton suite upgrades becoming a Platinum benefit like at other Marriott brands, integrating Postcard Cabins into the program, and making some other minor changes.

You can access Marriott here.

Postcard Cabins:

1. Postcard CabinsTM participate in the Loyalty Program as outlined below. A list of participating Postcard Cabins properties and effective dates of participation can be found here.

(1) Points or Miles may be earned as described in Section 2.

(2) Members may redeem Points as described in Section 3.

(3) Members may receive benefits at Postcard Cabins as defined in Section 1 and 4, except for the following: Complimentary Enhanced Internet Access, Gift Shop Discount, Guaranteed Lounge Access, and 48-Hour Guaranteed Availability. Not all Postcard Cabins offer Complimentary In-Room Internet Access, refer to the individual Participating Property for more information.

(4) Postcard Cabins participate in Marriott Bonvoy Events as described in Section 5.

These Postcard Cabins have now been included in various guarantees.

Ritz-Carlton

Marriott has removed the following blurb:

At The Ritz-Carlton, suites are only included for Titanium Elite and Ambassador Elite Members

Previously, Platinum members were excluded from the space available suite upgrades at Ritz-Carlton hotels, but that is no longer the case.

Note that club access is NOT included for stays at Ritz-Carlton properties, regardless of your Bonvoy status (Platinum, Titanium & Ambassador).

Marriott Bonvoy Events

An Elite Member will not earn Elite bonus Points on special promotions or incentives, signing bonus, or additional Points awarded by a Participating Property for Qualifying Events.

Marriott has added the above notice to the Marriott Bonvoy Events earnings.

When splitting Events, both Members will need to agree on earnings of either Points or Miles and should also determine what percentage of earnings each Member will receive.

And the one above, when there are more than one receiving points or miles for an event.

Conclusion

The Platinum member space available standard suite upgrades at Ritz-Carlton hotels now align with Marriott’s other luxury brand, St. Regis, where this has been a member benefit since the SPG days.

You must remember that Club Access is not an elite member benefit for stays at Ritz-Carlton, and unlike with St. Regis hotels, you cannot choose breakfast as the elite welcome amenity.
