Kraftwerk brought 50 years of innovative synthpop to Beacon Theatre (pics, video setlist)
It was a night of motorik synthpop classics

Synth pioneers Kraftwerk are currently on their Multimedia Tour that also doubles as a 50th anniversary celebration of their landmark album Autobahn. They hit NYC last week for shows at Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre on March 13 and Manhattan’s Beacon Theatre on March 14.
Co-founder Ralf Hütter, along with 30-year veteran Henning Schitz and newer members Georg Bongartz and Falk Grieffenhagen, hit the Beacon Theatre stage promptly at 8 PM, positioning themselves behind their T-shaped consoles, clad in LED jumpsuits and ankle boots. Despite the nods to “Autobahn,” which they played in a short (nine minute) version, the Multimedia Tour is basically a Greatest Hits show, and their set includes “The Model,” “Computer World,” “Trans-Europe Express,” a medley from “Tour De France” and more. It all sounded amazing with Beacon’s very impressive Sphere Immersive Sound system.
There were matching visuals of course (though not in 3-D this time), which ranged from representations of their iconic design and artwork from the last five decades to playful moments like video of a UFO landing outside Beacon.
