Target: $50 back on $50 spend with new Target Circle Debit or Reloadable Card

Target is currently offering a credit good for $50 back on $50 or more when you open a new Target Circle debit card, credit card or reloadable card.

It probably isn’t worth doing this for the credit card, but it could be a nice deal if you’re opening the debit card or the reloadable card since that card has no fee or hard pull – making this a free and easy $50+ win for Target shoppers.

Unfortunately, Target has added lifetime language to the reloadable card’s terms, indicating that each Target Circle account is only eligible for one bonus per lifetime.

The Deal

  • Target is offering $50 in rewards after a purchase of $50 or more when you open a new Target Circle card.
    • This applies to the reloadable, debit or credit card, but we don’t recommend doing the credit card deal.
    • No expiration date listed

Key Terms

Credit/Debit

  • Get $50 in Target Circle Rewards when you spend $50 or more on qualifying purchases in-store or at Target.com with your Target Circle Debit or Credit card within 60 days of approval.
  • This offer does not apply to mail in applications.
  • The offer will be added to your Target Circle account within 24 hours of approval.
  • Target Circle Rewards will expire after one year if you have not earned or redeemed any Target Circle Rewards for one year.
  • Qualifying purchases exclude alcohol, Target GiftCards, Visa, American Express and Mastercard gift cards/prepaid cards, CVS pharmacy, clinic, and Target Optical.
  • Your expiration date can be found on target.com/circle or under Wallet tab in the Target app.

Reloadable Card

  • To receive a $50 statement credit for the Target Circle Card Reloadable Account , you must successfully register at targetcirclereloadable.com for a new account, then activate the personalized card once received in the mail and spend $50 (net of reversals/returns) at Target (“$50 transaction”) with your activated personalized card within 45 days of registration. (Purchases made with virtual temporary card do not qualify.)
  • Statement credit will be posted to the account within 30 days of the $50 transaction.
  • The $50 transaction must occur in one transaction at a Target location or at target.com; if you get cash back at the register during your purchase, the transaction will not qualify for this promotion.
  • Limit one (1) acquisition credit per guest in their lifetime (including RedCard Reloadable Account). Offer subject to change or cancellation at any time. This optional offer is not provided by Pathward.
  • Limit one (1) acquisition credit per guest in their lifetime for both RedCard Reloadable Account and Target Circle Card Reloadable Account.

Quick Thoughts

There are a few exclusions above, but most regular Target shoppers will still find $50 back on $50 to be an easy bonus. Previously, there was a coupon that worked both online and in-store, meaning that you could get $100 worth of stuff for free by using it twice. Since it’s now uploaded to a Target Circle account, there’s no more online/in-store double dip.

I generally prefer to focus on larger bank account bonuses, but this is nonetheless an easy win and the deal is better still if you shop at Target regularly since the debit card gives you 5% off both in-store and online. Do factor in that discount in when making your required purchase, as we’ve had data points of folks missing the bonus because the discount made the amount drop below $50.
