8 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

WEYES BLOOD – “SHILO” (NEIL DIAMOND COVER)

Weyes Blood has always has an affinity for late-’60s and early-’70s music, and here she is covering Neil Diamond’s 1967 single “Shilo” which was made more famous on his 1972 live album Hot August Night. This is right in her wheelhouse. It was recorded for Hulu original drama series Good American Family that stars Ellen Pompeo and Mark Duplass, and the cover was produced by Marcelo Zarvos who composed the series’ score.

EDDIE VEDDER – “THE NEEDLE AND THE DAMAGE DONE” / STEPHEN MARLEY – “OLD MAN” (NEIL YOUNG COVERS)

Heart of Gold: A Tribute to Neil Young is out April 25, benefitting The Bridge School, and here’s two more tracks from it: Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder’s take on “The Needle and The Damage Done” and Stephen Marley doing “Old Man.”

BEACH BUNNY – “BIG PINK BUBBLE”

Beach Bunny’s third album, Tunnel Vision, is out next month, and they’ve given us another early taste with “Big Pink Bubble.” Lili Trifilio directed the accompanying video, which references Pleasantville and Twin Peaks.

JEREMY BRADLEY EARL (WOODS) – FOUR SONGS

Wood’s Jeremy Bradley Earl has just released his debut solo EP and if you like his band you’re going to like the lightly psychedelic folk rock on these four songs.

WITCH POST – “THE WOLF”

Alaska Reid and Dylan Fraser have shared another track off Beast, their debut EP as Witch Post. Their cryptic statement about the song reads, “Last night I left a big, raw soup bone at the end of the driveway with a note underneath. This morning the bone is gone and all that is left is shredded paper covered in pinkish slobber. I walk with a friend and we speak about it all; the note, the bone, the feeling that I had been harboring in my gut that I needed to make contact. A few weeks back, I had pieced together the mystery of why neighbors’ small dogs would go missing once a month, or trash cans would be tipped over, slashed with claw marks. It’s all connected to those lonesome long howls that irritate people on moonlit nights. To me it’s music. I saw his eyes once before, after a late night coming home. Now I can’t stop looking for those two silver moons glinting deep in the bushes. I know we have to speak. I will try again soon, maybe with fruit this time…”

PETER MURPHY – “THE ARTROOM WONDER” FT. TOOL’S JUSTIN CHANCELLOR

Peter Murphy has unveiled another track off his new album Silver Shade, which you can read more about here.

THE WATERBOYS & FIONA APPLE – “LETTER FROM AN UNKNOWN GIRLFRIEND”
