Jimmy Smits Returns For “Dexter: Resurrection”

Jimmy Smits is set to reprise his “Dexter” third season role of the late Miguel Prado in the upcoming sequel series “Dexter: Resurrection”.

Smits’ character served as the main antagonist of the show’s third season, the character a ruthless Assistant District Attorney beloved by the community but willing to break the law behind-the-scenes to see justice served.

He befriended Dexter (Michael C. Hall) knowing he was a killer and kept pushing him to get involved. Once he commits his first murder under Dexter’s tutelage, it creates an uncontrollable monster with Miguel killing an innocent attorney and targeting Maria LaGuerta – leading to Dexter having to put him down.

As previously revealed, ‘Resurrection’ will follow on directly from “Dexter: New Blood” and prequel series “Dexter: Original Sin” with the story returning to the present day with Hall’s Dexter Morgan in hospital recovering from being shot.

During that hospital stay, he seemingly has visions of antagonists from past seasons with both Smits (S3 villain) and John Lithgow’s Arthur Mitchell/Trinity Killer (S4) returning for cameos.

No word as yet if any others are potentially returning like Christian Camargo’s Brian Moser/Ice Truck Killer (S1), Jaime Murray’s Lila West (S2), Jonny Lee Miller’s Jordan Chase (S5), Colin Hanks’ Travis Marshall/Doomsday Killer (S6), or Darri Ingolfsson’s Oliver Saxon/Brain Surgeon (S8).

Nick Santucci played a young Miguel in the “Original Sin” prequel series. “Dexter: Resurrection” will be executive-produced by Clyde Phillips who also returns as showrunner.
