The Aquaman actor will play the infamous intergalactic bounty hunter alongside Milly Alcock as Supergirl, David Krumholtz (Oppenheimer) and Emily Beecham (Into The Badlands), who will play Kara's biological mother and father Alura and Zor-El, Eve Ridley (3 Body Problem) who will play Ruthye Marye Knoll, and Matthias Schoenaerts (The Old Guard) will play the villainous Krem of the Yellow Hills. The film has kicked off production, and Momoa recently explained to Entertainment Weekly that he’s about ”halfway” through filming his scenes. In an interview with Minecraft co-star Jack Black, Momoa said he did something unique with this role, “It’s the first time I asked everybody to call me by my character’s name.” He then turned to Black and, in character, joked, “Lobo has to go take a deuce.”Momoa further said, “I just think I’m the right person to play the role…If we’re going to typecast me in anything, let’s put me in Lobo. Motorcycles, smoking cigars, partying, dreadlocks.”It really does seem like the perfect fit, even more than Aquaman! Craig Gillespie is directing the film, with James Gunn and Peter Safran producing. This will be the second film released in Gods and Monsters DC phase one. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has begun shooting and is expected to arrive in theaters on June 26, 2026.
