Colin Farrell Looking To Star in DC Studios' SGT. ROCK Movie From Director Luca Guadagnino
Colin Farrell is looking to jump back into the DC universe as a whole new character. While he is playing The Penguin in The Batman franchise, Farrell is going to star as Sgt. Franklin John Rock in director Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming WWII-set Sgt. Rock film. While The Penguin falls under Matt Reeves’ The Batman universe, this new project is under the oversight of DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran. Farrell is stepping into the role that was originally eyed by Daniel Craig, who was in talks to reunite with Guadagnino after Queer. However, with Craig moving on, Farrell is now looking to take on the lead as the tough-as-nails war hero, who was first introduced in Our Army at War in 1959 by Robert Kanigher and Joe Kubert. Rock is a battle-hardened infantry soldier characterized by his unwavering sense of duty, badass combat skills, and strong loyalty to his men, often serving as both a father figure and a protector. His stories are gritty and grounded, focusing on the brutal realities of war, the camaraderie among soldiers, and the personal cost of battle, making him one of DC’s iconic military heroes. While Sgt. Rock is high on Guadagnino’s priority list scheduling still needs to be worked out. Farrell has a packed slate this fall, including the second season of AppleTV+’s Sugar and Edward Berger’s The Ballad of a Small Player. The film also reunites Guadagnino with his Challengers and Queer writer Justin Kuritzkes. Meanwhile, the director has another film on the way before Sgt. Rock moves forward, with his thriller After the Hunt, starring Julia Roberts and Andrew Garfield, set to hit theaters on October 10 from Amazon MGM Studios. What do you think about Colin Ferrell taking on the role Sgt.
