AMC Slashes Tickets By 50% On Wednesdays

Move over tightwad Tuesdays, here comes wallet-friendly Wednesdays.

The world’s largest theater chain AMC Theatres have announced that starting July 9th, the chain will offer 50% off adult movie tickets on Wednesdays for those part of their AMC Stubs rewards program.

AMC already offers discounted tickets on Tuesdays for Stubs members, and that will continue, according to the company.

Cinemas in general have been hit hard these past few years as the pandemic, strikes and rise of streaming. AMC itself has also faced competition from smaller but more luxurious options.

The first quarter of 2025 was down 11% compared to the year earlier, but the recent success of “A Minecraft Movie” and “Sinners” among others has “corrected” that anomaly according to CEO Adam Aron.

In a press release, he says: “Realistically, we could not afford to have made this change to our ticket pricing strategy until the box office showed true signs of sustained recovery.”

The ticket prices will come into effect as “Jurassic World: Rebirth” and “Superman” are playing in cinemas. The 50% off deal may exclude certain movies or holidays though and it’s not clear how long it will run.
