All The Major New Destiny 2 Features Revealed: Powers, Weapons, Armor Overhaul, And More
The Edge of Fate is bringing with it a lot of big changes to Destiny 2. From a completely remade armor system to new weapons, new abilities, and a new vehicle to drive there are lots of new toys for Guardians to play with coming to this new expansion. Here's what players can expect in The Edge of Fate. MattersparkThe Edge of Fate will be launching with a new destination in the form of the planet Kepler, and players will also be able to explore new abilities as well to go along with the new places to explore. There will be three distinct new powers tied to the environments and ways to play around Kepler in the form of Dark Matter powers:- Matterspark, the Relocator Cannon, and Mattermorph. Each of these new powers is activated by players finding a Dark Matter spore on a node in the open world and then walking up to a special object to trigger the power of their choice. For example, the Matterspark is activated by a sparking pad on the ground or Mattermorph is triggered by green, glowing parts of the level such as platforms or doors.Matterspark will transform the user into a small ball of Arc energy that can speed around the world for a short amount of time. While in this form they are smaller and harder to hit, but they are still vulnerable to incoming damage. However, players can attack by getting close to enemy combatants and they will constantly emit Arc attacks and apply the Jolt debuff. While in the Matterspark form, players can also slip through small openings in the world to traverse to otherwise inaccessible areas through corridors and tubes. Relocator CannonWhile Bungie has not fully revealed the Relocator cannon yet, this is what we think it may look like. The Relocator Cannon is described as a "Fallen invention," and is a Void element rocket launcher that can warp players to a new location when aimed and fired. It can also have players fly through walls blocked by lasers or via shortcuts open enough to fit a projectile through. When used as an offensive weapon, the Relocator Cannon deals Void damage that causes chain reaction explosions with the Volatile effect and small Void sparks not unlike the Graviton Lance Exotic weapon. MattermorphMattermorph is a new Strand-based power that allows players to manipulate the environment to open new pathways and unlock previously unseen areas. When activated, obstacles that can be changed with Mattermorph will glow bright green and they will move with a simple button press. These same objects can also be used offensively. When a player picks up an object with Mattermorph, the object can be held and then thrown to cause Strand effects like Suspension and Unraveling. As described by Bungie, players can "delete an entire encounter before you morph the environment," opening up lots of special opportunities to completely change how they play through the campaign and explore destinations. Armor 3.0 - New stats, energy changes, and set bonuses.Armor will be getting a massive makeover in The Edge of Fate via the new "Armor 3.0" system. This system allows players to completely alter their playstyles with new stats and armor perks that are coming with the new World Tier system. Armor is getting huge changes to how it functions and will no longer require resources to level up once it is earned. Instead it is dropped with a full set of gear slots and an energy pool based on the World Tier it dropped in. The highest amount of energy an armor piece can drop is 11 with a Tier-5 drop earned on higher difficulty encounters. Higher-tier armor also includes better stats based on the World Tier it comes from. Armor Set Bonuses Armor earned in The Edge of Fate and beyond will also come with Set Bonuses. Based on wearing two or four pieces of armor from a given set rewards players with a special bonus in combat. For example, the Techsec Armor shown in the reveal presentation shows a two-piece bonus of being able to deal increased Kinetic damage to combatant shields, overshields, vehicles, and constructs. The four-piece bonus also adds a disorienting shockwave emitted by enemies who have their shield broken by Kinetic damage. These are not the only effects armor will have, and more will be seen in The Edge of Fate, Renegades, and beyond. New Armor StatsStats are also getting a total rework. Along with how stats from armor pieces affect a player's powers, they are now introducing the ability to break the 100-point barrier for a special bonus in each statistic. Relocator Cannon

While Bungie has not fully revealed the Relocator cannon yet, this is what we think it may look like.
The Relocator Cannon is described as a "Fallen invention," and is a Void element rocket launcher that can warp players to a new location when aimed and fired. Griffon Combat Sparrow

Starting on May 9, 2025, Bungie will be launching the special event Heavy Metal alongside the Rites of the Nine. Heavy Metal is a new Crucible Labs mode pitting teams in Drake tanks versus a team of Fallen Brig walkers. The mode will be a special deathmatch in Crucible and players will be able to earn a new reward, the Griffon.
The Griffon is a new type of Sparrow that players can use anywhere in the open world where a typical Sparrow or Skimmer can be summoned, but this vehicle will also have guns able to be used on it. While no gameplay of the Griffon has been seen yet, it's likely to handle very similar to a typical Sparrow with some extra toys on board.
New Land Beyond

Another classic Destiny exotic has been brought back. This time it's the Kinetic sniper rifle No Land Beyond, now known as New Land Beyond. Players that pre-order the Year of Prophecy Ultimate Edition or Collector's Edition will immediately unlock this weapon to use in the game. New Land Beyond is unique in the fact that it does not have a long zoom range with its iron sights and has a very quick time to aim for a precision hit. The Intrinsic Perk is The Master, which increases weapon damage from Precision Hits until the wielder is defeated. The other unique perk is Bullseye Bolster- Landing a Precision hit substantially increases this weapon's target acquisition, handling, reload speed, and stability for a short duration of time. Players that enjoy headshot-centric weapons will definitely have lots of fun with this one.
