“A Working Man” Targets $15.6M Opening

The Jason Statham-led action feature “A Working Man” is on track for a $15.6 million opening weekend domestically – about on par with the $16.5 million that Staham’s “The Beekeeper” opened to last year.

Coming in at a budget of $40 million, this adaptation of Chuck Dixon’s “Levon’s Trade” follows a retired counter-terrorism agent turned construction worker who’s pulled back into his old career.

Both critics and audiences aren’t warming to the movie which sits at 53% (5.0/10) on Rotten Tomatoes and with a weak B CinemaScore. Disney’s “Snow White” is in second with estimates now at $13.7 million for the weekend – a fall of around 68% from last week.

Faith-based screenings of several episodes of “The Chosen” is tracking to take $12 million and third place for the weekend, while fourth looks to go to Blumhosue supernatual thiller “Woman in the Yard” with $9 million.

In fifth, the Jenna Ortega-led A24 fantasy horror tale “Death of a Unicorn” is tracking to debut with $5.4 million – quite good for a sub-$15 million production. In sixth is the re-release of “Princess Mononoke” which is headed for $3.5 million in its debut weekend
