“Watchmen” and “Justice League” director Zack Snyder has signed on to direct the UFC-themed film “Brawler”.
The story follows a Los Angeles man who rises up in the world of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). The project was previously teased back in October with Snyder teasing his next film will likely be smaller scale and shy away from VFX. A subsequent rumor indicated it would be UFC-related.
Shay Hatten (“Army of the Dead,” “John Wick 3 & 4”) and Kurt Johnstad (“Atomic Blonde,” “300”), the scribes who previously both worked with Snyder together on the two “Rebel Moon” films, will also serve as co-writers alongside Snyder.
Snyder will produce and is backed by UFC President Dana White and The Ring magazine owner – His Excellency Turki Alashikh. White says in a statement:
“His Excellency Turki Alalshikh and Zack Snyder have a shared vision to create a film about UFC. They are both very passionate about this project to show fans what it takes to become a UFC champion. It’s an incredibly ambitious project and I look forward to seeing it come to life.”
Also producing are Deborah Snyder, Wesley Coller, Craig Bosari, Alashikh, Johnstad and Hatten.
