Glover, Erskine Returning To “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”?

Sophie Thatcher (“Yellowjackets”) is in negotiations to star opposite Mark Eydelshteyn in the second season of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” at Amazon Prime Video reports Deadline.

The duo will be playing the eponymous Mr. & Mrs. Smith in the new run, different characters to the main pair of Donald Glover and Maya Erskine who were the leads in the first season.

That first season followed two strangers who have to pose as a married couple as they both begin new careers as spies, taking on new aliases, Mr. and Mrs. John and Jane Smith.

The InSneider indicates that both Glover and Erskine will return for multiple episodes of the second season. The first season ended on a cliffhanger with the pair getting into a gunfight, their fates unknown.

Oscar-winning musician Billie Eilish was approached for the female lead of the second season but her touring commitments have reportedly prevented her involvement.

The new Jane and John will be different characters. Sloane returns as executive producer and showrunner for the second season while Donald Glover is back as executive producer.
