The next James Bond film could be made by Harry Potter and Spider-Man producers

The next James Bond film could be overseen by the producers of the Harry Potter and Spider-man films, according to an online report.

Last month, it was announced that the long-serving producers of 007, Barbara Broccoli and her half-brother Michael G. Wilson, had stepped away from the creative process and handed over control to Amazon, ending over 60 years of the Broccoli family’s control of the Bond estate.

Now, a report from Puck has suggested that two new producers are being eyed to take their positions in overseeing the productions moving forward.

Matthew Belloni’s What I’m Hearing column read: “Good luck to David Heyman and Amy Pascal, who are in talks to shepherd the next iteration of James Bond. The veteran producers have been among the names rumoured in the British press in the weeks since Amazon shocked the town by acquiring full control of the Bond franchise from Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, but now I’m told reps for Heyman and Pascal are negotiating their deals”.

He continued: “Amazon declined to comment, and nothing can be official until the Broccoli transaction closes, which is still a ways off. But they’re the choice of Amazon execs Mike Hopkins, Jen Salke, and Courtenay Valenti, and barring some impasse, the announcement will happen”.

David Heyman is considered one of the most successful names in Hollywood, having produced all eight Harry Potter films, the first two Paddington films, Barbie, and Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

Pascal served as the Chairperson of the Motion Pictures Group of Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) from 2006 until 2015. She oversaw the release of four Bond films: Casino Royale, Quantum Of Solace, Skyfall, and SPECTRE, as head of the studio when Sony distributed the Bond series.

Since leaving her role, she has worked as a producer on the Venom trilogy, the Tom Holland’s Spider-man films, and Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Narnia adaptation for Netflix.

Speculation abounds as to who the next Bond should be, but former 007 Pierce Brosnan has said that it’s “a given” that the actor who plays him should be British.
