Swissport has renovated its Aspire Lounge at Helsinki Airport, which is on the Schengen side by gate 27 (take the stairs up). The updated lounge has now been open for two weeks (per the staff at the reception).
The other Aspire lounge by gate 13 (previously the SAS lounge) was supposed to reopen today, but it has been delayed by a few days, and I found this out myself when I tried to enter it this morning.
You can access Swissport’s page for Aspire lounges here.
Aspire Lounge Helsinki Airport Gate 27
The lounge is open from 5 AM until midnight daily and can be accessed using most lounge programs.
The lounge is somewhat challenging to find, but follow the signs for gate 27, and you cannot miss it.
Self-Service Buffet
The breakfast buffet with wine on tap was something you would expect to find in a lounge in Finland.
Bar
The bar shares some of the space with the reception.
It seems that all the beverages served at the bar come at a price, although the prices of hard liquor are not displayed.
Sitting Area
I believe that this back area of the lounge is new.
There is also a small alcove that you can access by taking the stairs right to the reception.
Conclusion
This morning, I flew out from HEL on SAS instead of Finnair because I needed some XP points deposited into my Flying Blue account.
SAS doesn’t seem to provide any lounge access @ HEL for SAS Plus or SkyTeam Elite Plus members, so I accessed this Aspire lounge using a Priority Pass membership.
The old Aspire lounge by gate 27 was quite dire, but this one is now actually quite nice after the renovations. It also feels like it has more space (upstairs and in the back).
The lounge had a miniature KLM plane, which is likely a good indication of who this lounge’s primary user is.
There is a third Aspire lounge at the airport, the former Finnair Schengen lounge, for customers of one local bank and some Lufthansa frequent fliers.
