New “Predator,” “Tron: Ares” Details Revealed

Disney touted the live-action one of its two new “Predator” projects at CinemaCon today, the studio bringing actress Elle Fanning on stage to talk the Dan Trachtenberg-directed “Predator: Badlands”.

The title takes the franchise in a slightly different than-expected direction. Here, the Predator is a ‘good guy’ who was exiled from his planet and is aiming to fight his way back. Elle Fanning plays Thia, a woman who teams up with him and seeking her own redemption.

A brief teaser was shown with high praise for the visuals and action, along with the Predator himself sporting a different look. That title will be released in cinemas on November 7.

The clip follows on from a report earlier this week at The Hot Mic that the new animated anthology-esque “Predator” film will be titled “Predator: Killer of Killers”. It’s expected to follow Predators in multiple eras with pirates and samurai among the potential characters it could face.

Also showcased at the presentation was “Tron: Ares” with actors Jared Leto and Jeff Bridges appearing on stage, introduced via a laser light show and some of the score by Nine Inch Nails. Bridges dubbed the movie an “incredible visual experience” while Leto says it will “hit you right in the grid”.

Footage from the film was shown off with two Tron cycles evading the police on a freeway in the real world. The film’s cast also includes Evan Peters, Gillian Anderson, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Cameron Monaghan, Arturo Castro and Hasan Minhaj. “Tron: Ares” hits cinemas on October 10th.
