The earliest tracking figures are in for this year’s Memorial Day weekend and it appears to be good news for both Disney and Tom Cruise.

Deadline reports that Quorum has published the six weekends-in-advance tracking figures for both Disney’s live-action “Lilo & Stitch” film and “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” and both are shaping up to be big hits.

They indicate ‘Lilo’ is already eyeing a three-day opening of over $100 million. While a number isn’t given for ‘Mission’, they do indicate it’s not far from the ‘Lilo’ number and “well north” of the previous $61 million record opening of the sixth film “Mission: Impossible – Fallout”.

Both are charting considerably better than Marvel’s “Thunderbolts” in early May which is currently aiming for a projected $70 million start. Overall total awareness for “Lilo & Stitch” (62) and M:I 8 (59) easily eclipses “Thunderbolts” (37).

It marks welcome hits after Disney’s live-action “Snow White” bombed with a $43 million start while “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning” came in lower than expected at $54.7 million.

The weekend is also expected to easily eclipse last year’s Memorial Day weekend when “Furiosa” and “Garfield” opened to $26.3 million and $24 million respectively over the three-day Friday-Sunday. That overall holiday box-office the worst since 1995.

The best Memorial Day weekend in recent years was 2022 when “Top Gun: Maverick” debuted to $126.7 million for the three-day.
